Sacred Waters

A Guatemala Retreat of Connection, Culture & Renewal

January 24–29, 2028 | Lake Atitlán, Guatemala

There are places that invite us to slow down, listen more deeply, and remember what matters.

Surrounded by volcanoes, vibrant culture, and the sacred waters of Lake Atitlán, this six-day retreat is an invitation to step away from the pace of everyday life and into a journey of connection, to yourself, to community, and to the land and traditions of Guatemala.

Together, we’ll weave yoga, meditation, breathwork, cacao, sound, ceremony, rest, and reflection with meaningful opportunities to experience the culture and beauty of Lake Atitlán.

This is not a retreat about filling every moment.

There will be space to breathe. Space to explore. Space to rest. And space to simply be.

The Experience

Our home for five nights will be Casa Floresta, an intimate retreat sanctuary overlooking Lake Atitlán.

Our days will move between guided practices, shared meals, cultural experiences, ceremony, and spacious time to enjoy the lake and surrounding villages.

Throughout the retreat, you can expect experiences such as:

  • Yoga, meditation, and breathwork

  • Ceremonial cacao

  • Immersive sound journeys

  • A traditional Mayan Fire Ceremony led by local ceremonial guides

  • A cultural excursion to San Juan La Laguna

  • Sauna and traditional plant bath

  • Reflection, intention, and integration practices

  • Time to rest, receive bodywork, explore, or simply enjoy the lake

  • Shared meals and meaningful community

  • Opening and closing ceremonies

No particular level of yoga or meditation experience is required. Practices will be offered with space to meet yourself where you are.

A Journey Into Guatemala

This experience is intentionally designed to be more than a retreat that happens to take place in Guatemala.

We want to honor and experience the place that is holding us.

During our time together, we'll visit San Juan La Laguna, where we'll learn more about local Mayan culture, traditional weaving, cacao and coffee, art, and community.

We'll also participate in a traditional Mayan Fire Ceremony, guided by local ceremonial leaders and rooted in the Mayan calendar, prayer, gratitude, and relationship with the natural world.

These experiences offer an opportunity to listen, learn, and connect with some of the living traditions of Lake Atitlán.

A Glimpse at Our Days

Our final schedule will unfold with the rhythm of the group and the land, but a day might begin with meditation, movement, or breathwork overlooking the lake, followed by a nourishing brunch.

Some days will invite us outward, to explore San Juan or participate in traditional ceremony.

Others will draw us inward through cacao, sound, reflection, restorative practices, and quiet time.

Afternoons will include space for rest, swimming, massage, exploring nearby villages, journaling, or simply sitting beside the lake.

Evenings may bring us together for sound, song, ceremony, conversation, or stillness.

Our intention is not to rush from one experience to another, but to create enough spaciousness for the journey to actually sink in.

Optional Antigua Welcome Experience

January 23, 2028

Want a softer landing into Guatemala?

We are planning an optional pre-retreat night in historic Antigua for those who would like to arrive a day early, settle in, meet fellow travelers, and begin the journey together before traveling to Lake Atitlán.

Antigua's cobblestone streets, colorful architecture, cafés, markets, and surrounding volcanoes make it a beautiful place to begin.

Our goal is to coordinate accommodations and transportation so that once you arrive in Guatemala, much of the logistics are already taken care of.

Additional pricing and details coming soon.

Participation in the Antigua experience is optional and is not required to attend the Lake Atitlán retreat.

Getting There

Participants will fly into La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City (GUA).

For those participating in our optional Antigua experience, we plan to coordinate arrival transportation to Antigua on January 23 and group transportation toward Lake Atitlán the following morning.

For the main retreat, we will provide detailed arrival instructions and designated group transportation information well in advance.

Our goal is to make getting there feel as straightforward as possible.

If international travel feels a little intimidating, you won't have to figure it all out alone.

Is This Retreat For You?

This experience may be calling you if you're craving:

A meaningful pause from everyday life.

Time to reconnect with yourself outside of your usual routines and responsibilities.

Spiritual practices that feel grounded, experiential, and embodied.

A deeper experience of yoga, sound, breath, cacao, meditation, and ceremony.

An opportunity to experience Guatemala through both cultural exploration and intentional retreat.

Community without pressure to constantly socialize.

Adventure balanced with rest.

And perhaps simply the feeling that it's time to do something meaningful for yourself.

You don't need to arrive with an intention perfectly formed.

You simply need a willingness to be present for the journey.

Come Journey With Us

Lake Atitlán has long been a place of gathering, reflection, culture, and connection. And one of my absolute favorite places to visit!

For 6 days, we'll allow its waters, mountains, traditions, and rhythms to become part of our own journey.

We'll practice, explore, listen, rest, and gather around tables and in circles.

And we'll create enough space to notice what wants to emerge when life becomes a little quieter.
